Converting a US-scale GPA to the Indian 10-point scale uses simple proportional math: your GPA is divided by the maximum of its scale and multiplied by 10. A 3.7 GPA on the 4.0 scale therefore becomes (3.7 / 4.0) × 10 = 9.25 CGPA. The same logic applies to the 5.0 scale, while the German 1–5 option is handled specially because that scale is inverted — 1.0 is the best grade and 5.0 is a fail — so a straight linear formula would give the wrong answer.
