Formula: Grade = ฮฃ (Score ร Weight) / ฮฃ Weights
๐ Formula
Grade = ฮฃ (Category Score ร Category Weight) / Total Weight- Enter each grading category (homework, exams, projects, etc.) with your average score and its weight.
- Each category score is multiplied by its weight percentage.
- The weighted scores are summed and divided by the total weight; if weights do not sum to 100%, the calculator normalizes them automatically.
โ๏ธ Weighted Grades
Most classes do not treat every assignment equally โ a final exam usually counts far more than a homework set. Weighted grading accounts for the relative importance of each category: your syllabus might set exams at 50%, projects at 30%, and homework at 20%, and your overall grade is the weighted combination of your average score in each category.
To use the tool, add a row for each category from your syllabus with your current average score in that category and its weight. The calculator multiplies each score by its weight and divides by the total weight, so even if your weights don’t add up to exactly 100%, they are normalized automatically and the result stays accurate. For a simple points-based class, the plain Grade Calculator may be a better fit.
